Job Title: Senior Data Engineer (4-7 Years of Experience)

Job Type: Contract (3 months)
Work Arrangement: 2 days/week onsite in Amsterdam
Background: We are seeking a talented Senior Data Engineer to join our client in the Telecommunication Sector. In this role, you will work with a dynamic team within Data & Analytics, collaborating with Data Analysts, Data Architects, Data Managers, and Data Scientists. Your work will involve designing and implementing data solutions that support large-scale product deployments, helping the organization create more innovative and sustainable services for customers worldwide.
You will be based in our client's digital hub in Amsterdam, a growing hub of over 500 employees located in the harbour area, north-west of the city center. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge projects and work in an environment that values both professional growth and fun.
Scope of Services: Our client is expanding its services, having recently launched a peer-to-peer marketplace in two countries. As they prepare for the next phase of their launch with a new partner, they require a Data Engineer to build the data infrastructure from scratch. This is a short-term, 3-month assignment focused on supporting this development.
Key Responsibilities:
Design, implement, and deploy data solutions that meet business needs.
Work closely with cross-functional teams including Engineering, Product, and Design to deploy solutions at scale.
Develop code for data processing, data quality monitoring, and creating dashboards for real-time monitoring.
Ensure data solutions are scalable, efficient, and optimized for performance.
Collaborate with Data Analysts and Data Scientists to improve the data ecosystem and contribute to continuous learning.
Ensure that all data processes comply with legal and privacy regulations (GDPR).
Requirements:
Experience:
At least 4 years of experience as a Data Engineer.
Strong experience in SQL and data processing, particularly using dbt (data build tool). Experience with BigQuery is a plus.
Experience working with public cloud platforms (GCP experience is a bonus).
Proficiency in infrastructure-as-code using Terraform.
Strong experience in at least two programming languages, with Python and TypeScript/JavaScript being a bonus.
Familiarity with Git and CI/CD pipelines (using GitHub Actions and Workflows).
Experience with data pipeline orchestration tools, such as Airflow (Cloud Composer).
Ability to create dashboards for monitoring tech stacks and data quality. Experience with Power BI or Looker is a plus.
Skills & Competencies:
Passion for sustainability and a drive to make a positive environmental impact.
Strong business acumen and the ability to use data to make informed decisions.
Experience collaborating with software engineering teams to integrate analytics solutions.
Knowledge of data privacy regulations and ensuring GDPR compliance.
Familiarity with data mesh concepts and how they impact organizational and team structures.
Strong team player, with the ability to build relationships across teams and share knowledge.
