You will provide materials engineering support across multiple UK facilities, providing opportunity to investigate a wide range of different materials in multiple applications.
Your five years experience in metallurgy should be from automotive, aerospace, engineering etc. As a technical position you will also develop relationships across the UK business.
General overview
* Resolving issues regarding the design or manufacturing. Ensuring design acceptance and manufacturing readiness.
* Participating in the adoption of new technologies and processes (automation, robotics, computer aided manufacturing software, etc.) to achieve greater efficiency, cost reduction and quality improvement.
* Planning and improving testing procedures and operations to make the test more reliable, efficient, and cost-effective.
* Monitoring results, machine and process capabilities and performance reliability.
Your background
* Experience of non-metallics testing
* Deep experience of general metallurgy
* Experience of fluids testing / chemistry knowledge
* Experience of working in an ISO17025 accredited laboratory
* Materials Science/Metallurgy degree and/or substantive practical working experience within a materials laboratory environment
* Metallurgical / materials evaluation of new products, processes and or systems
* Engaging communicator; Able to convey technical assessments and results to both technical and non-technical colleagues
* Providing technical guidance on product and process maintenance
* Ability to Identify metallurgical / materials manufacturing defects and make process improvement recommendations
