Lyndsey Simpson, CEO of 55/Redefined will be joined by Charlotte Johns from Unilever and members of the OutSource representative committee to debate the issues surfaced in their research study published in August. With over 100 newspaper and magazine articles written about the study in the last 2 weeks, it has certainly got the attention of the media, HRDs and employers and as OutSource strategic partners, we need to make sure we are experts in the topic to best advice and guide our clients.

• 46% of over 55s want to continue working beyond age 66
• 89% of over 55s would be prepared to take a drop in salary to retrain in a new role/industry
• 65% of employers will only hire an over 55 employees to do the specific role they are already experienced in and would not consider
re-training them into a new role/sector
• 72% of employers believe there is a need to hire more 55–75 year old into the workforce
