Mechanical and Electrical Materials Buyer

Our client is a business energy solutions provider. They are looking for a Mechanical and Electrical Materials Buyer to join the expanding team. You will have a construction or automotive or data centre background. Your area of expertise is the management of large-scale Mechanical & Electrical material ordering including drawing off materials in batches to meet project programmes.
As a Mechanical and Electrical Materials Buyer, you will assist in the procurement of all Mechanical & Electrical material for live projects. Working closely with various departments ensuring smooth transition of all material ordering from Technical Approval to final stages of invoicing.
Your skill set
* Previous experience in a construction or M&E environment & demonstrable previous experience of material ordering
* Must speak a good level of German Language
* Minimum 3-5 years' experience in a purchasing / materials buyer role.
* Strong experience and excellent working knowledge of M&E materials and components.
* Organised and structured approach to your work.
* Enthusiastic adopter/user of IT systems, with proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Microsoft Excel.
* Excellent negotiating skills.
* Ability to work under pressure and cope with a varied portfolio of work, progressing with reduced supervision.
* Proven record of delivering quality work on time within budget and with minimal supervision.
* Previous experience in a procurement role
Your responsibilities
* Negotiating the best possible rates for Mechanical & Electrical plant and materials with local suppliers to stay within the budgetary requirement and purchase such materials
* Managing the delivery of M&E materials direct to site in a clear and professional manner by ensuring all items are available when required.
* Working to ensure all supplier invoices are cleared for payment in a timely manner to maintain the high-level of positive supplier relations expected by the company.
* Performing daily, weekly, and monthly checks to ensure all paperwork is up to date, all sites are being efficiently serviced and efficiency remains at the expected high level.
* Building, manage & maintain relationships with local clients, suppliers, contractors & other construction professionals including site operatives.
* Reporting to the Procurement Manager and company directors as required.
* Working to follow the robust processes/controls already in place to increase efficiency and improve performance.
* Ensuring a safe working environment abiding by all necessary H&S requirements and legislation.
* Supplier Vetting on EU contractors and suppliers
* Responsible for all EU material purchasing for delivery direct to all site locations
* Ensuring that contractors are in line with all planned programmes of work on each site
* Any other duties required to fulfil the requirements of the position.
